Sidmouth Folk Festival – Monday 5th August 2024

Following on from last year’s feedback we will be running the coach to Sidmouth again.

Sidmouth is a beautiful seaside town which is a pleasure to visit at any time of the year, but the town really comes to life for the annual Sidmouth Folk Festival on the first week of August.

We welcome Carers and Cared fors on this trip, but there will be a limit of one cared for per Carer.

This is a very popular trip so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Meet up with the Carers Aid team in Tessier Gardens – Monday 9th September 2024

This maybe the last opportunity to enjoy the summer before the temperatures drop and the rain begins to fall! We would love to see you in there, perhaps you could bring a bite to eat whilst enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the gardens.

Please call for more details and to let us know you would like to join us in case we have to cancel due to the great British weather!

Tavistock Goose Fair – Wednesday 9th October 2024

The annual Goose Fair in Tavistock dates back to the early 12th Century, when a Michaelmas Fair was held every September and provided the opportunity for business and animal trading; and was a social event for wives and daughters.

The name Goose Fair probably came about as farmers brought their geese ready for fattening for Christmas.

Now market traders come from all over the country to sell their wares and provide entertainment. Stalls and side shows are set up in the centre of the Town, and some 200 spaces are let by the Town Council for traders and community groups.

The more traditional side of the Goose Fair can still be found at the Tavistock Livestock Centre. They usually hold an open day where you can see cattle, sheep and Dartmoor ponies, and watch the auction of live geese and poultry.
